If you are new to the world of Chelonians (turtles/tortoises) then here are some resources that you might find helpful. Remember, there is more than one way to setup and care for a turtle so when you come across different ideas on forums/social media feel free to experiment and pick what works for you. What is important is that the key requirements for the species you have are met in a satisfactory manner.

Turtle and Tortoise Preservation Group on Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/groups/TTPGGroup/

The Turtle Room - https://theturtleroom.com/education

Tortoise Forum - www.tortoiseforum.org

Turtle Forum - www.turtleforum.com

Austin’s Turtle Page - http://www.austinsturtlepage.com/

These are just a few of the sources I trust and turn to when I need some information. The content at Austin’s turtle page might be older articles and notes but they are still very solid and valuable information and I believe it will be worth your time.

Today you can find a Facebook group for just about any species of turtle/tortoise, just remember that not everything that is posted is accurate or valid :)

Do you need help re-homing your turtle/tortoise? Look for a local turtle club and see if they can help. Here are some organizations that I respect, and recommend.
1. Turtle Rescue of Long Island - http://www.turtlerescues.org/index.htm
2. Central Florida Wildlife Center Inc. - http://www.turtlerescueusa.com/wordpress/?page_id=4
3. Central MS Turtle Rescue - https://www.centralmsturtlerescue.com/ and
4. Mid-Atlantic Turtle and Tortoise Society - https://www.matts-turtles.org/
5. California Turtle and Tortoise Club - https://tortoise.org/

Note: The Turtle and Tortoise Preservation Group (TTPG) hosts an annual conference focused on captive care and breeding of turtles and tortoises and it is a great event to meet and network with other hobbyists from the U.S and other countries. You can find more information about the conference at http://ttpg.org/conferences.php

Happy Turtling!
